RA Government adopted a regulation establishing new procedure for appealing the decisions of the Armenian Patent and Trademark Office
On November 8, 2012 the Government adopted a regulation (No. 1501-N) establishing new procedure for appealing the decisions of the Armenian Patent and Trademark Office (Intellectual Property Agency – www.aipa.am) to the PTO’s Board of Appeals. According to the new Procedure, the PTO’s Board of Appeals is chaired by one of the Deputy Ministers of Economy of the Republic of Armenia. The members of the Board of Appeals are appointed by the decision of the Minister of Economy. The Board has the right to invite high profile experts to the discussions of specific technical issues of the case.
Recent reforms in the Customs Office and their acceptance of Applications for Action
On June 13, 2012 the State Revenue Committee of the RA Government adopted a regulation (No. 178-N) establishing new procedure by which the Customs Office of the Republic of Armenia accepts Applications for Actions for protecting the applicant’s patents, trademarks, copyright and other Intellectual Property rights against counterfeit goods entering into Armenian market. As of May 2013, the Customs Office registered 79 applications. Knyazyan & Partners IP Law Firm filed 29 applications out of 79 (list of filed applications).
